DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Tommy Tanaka shapes with one philosophy in mind:  stick to the basics. His dad, Ernie Tanaka, taught him early on that the outline of a board must be kept clean and true.
Longboards are his specialty.  “I shape each board as if it were my own.” 

 “ Personally my favorite board is a 9’0”x 22 ¼ x 2 ¾ with a 18 ½ nose and a 13 ¾  round pin tail 2 + 1 fin set up. It has a flat nose, a little roll in the belly, and some vee in the tail.   I have ridden practically every size board and all models and I always go back to this same basic shape.  Just like the way my dad used to make for me back in the day.  It goes back to just sticking to the basics.”  Tommy
